Hi Barb - I am an iguana owner with two cats. Right now my iguana is still too small to be out of his enclosure unsupervised. I think the answer to your question is that it depends on the personalities of your animals. It's my understanding that when your iguana is big enough to defend itself, your other animals will probably leave it alone. However, it will tail whip and bite if it feels threatened, so for the safety of all the animals, I wouldn't allow them to have unsupervised contact out of the enclosure. One of my cats is agressive and fast. Right now if I had my ig out of the enclosure in the same room as this cat, the cat would go after him, maybe just out of curiousity, but you know what they say..."Curiousity killed the iguana" or something like that! My advice would be to gradually introduce the animals in your presence and use your judgement as to how much contact they can handle. I would discourage you to ever let the ig free roam with the dog or cats around.: Hi there. This is my first post. I usually go to the turtle forum. I have always wanted an iguana, but before I get one I need to know how they do with other pets. We have all kinds of pets in my house including a dog, 2 cats, 4 turtles, guinea piggies, and a hampster. How would an iguana do with all this? Should I wait until I have no kitties around? I want to make sure that I am prepared before I take up such a venture. Thanks in advance for any info.
