If you didnt buy a full spectrum light, or Reptile light (such as Reptisun, Iguana Light, or the lesser quality Vitalite), you dont have a light that produces UVB. Without UVB, your iguana cannot metabolize calcium. Without calcium, your iguana will develop a deficiency known as Metabolic Bone Disorder. I have seen iguanas with MBD, and it is anot a pretty sight. Early cases will cause a loss of appetite, lethargic appearance, and they will start getting shaky, with muscle twitches. As it progresses, their bones will start getting soft, the will get arches in the arms, legs, and back, and their jaw will start losing shape. Over time, it will kill your iguana.

I'm not sure why you insist on a tank or aquarium for your iguana... They are just plain unsuitable. Search the web a little bit, and look at some of the other housing ideas. A large aquarium is probably the most expensive route. You can provide much cheaper housing if you explore your other options.

If you can get the new cage done for cheaper, you will have more money for providing other important things, such as a proper diet, lighting, and heating.

It all works together. Without the proper full spectrum light, the best diet in the world wont do any good. Without proper heat, your iguana may not be interested in food, and wont be able to digest properly. Without a proper cage, your iguana will not be able to get the exercise he needs, and will start to deteriorate from not being able to use his muscles.

: The floresant light provides heat and brings the tempeture in the tank to about 87. im not sure if it provides UVB it sends off a purplish whitish color. I have woodshop but i dont tanke it this year ... my b-day is april 8th so thats when i get my working papers and im thinking about working at pets plus who gives 6.25/h since they need employees. But for now im gona have to wait until i have enuf money to ask petland to order the tank .
