The "Blue diamond iguanas" or El salvador iguanas are species
Iguana iguana, or just regular common green iguanas.
Sometimes these green iguanas have blue highlights or somewhat blue color when young but as they mature fully they will just be
like regular green iguanas. If they do retain any blue color it is
a steel blue/gray color or just small blue highlights.
The only iguana that may be bright blue as adults is species
Cyclura nubila lewisi, the Grand Cayman Blue Rock Iguana.
I recommend getting a hybrid blue cayman, but always get from a good breeder
and ask to see the parents. Many people are breeding these guys
and sometimes grossly interbreeding related Cyclura nubila species
so that there is very little blue color in the lizards when they mature.
This species lives much longer than greens, and is more of a ground dweller than the green iguana.
They are much much more hardy, can take a wider range of temps, and less humidity than green igs.
Also they are almost always tame as adults, not like greens.
I love my green iguana, but after getting cyclura nubila I would never get another green ig-
there really is no comparison.
