In Reply to: need good pic of burn due to hot rock for pet store careshet posted by pyro on January 21, 2002 at 19:11:00:
We have two igs with pretty severe scarring from various burns right now...One has multiple scars on his sides and stomach, all healed well, but still very saddening to see.
The other one has some fresh burns and old scars. Some from heat rocks, but more from exposed heat lamps. A lot of scars on his sides, and even has most of his spikes burnt right off. He's very small as well... Around 7 yrs old, with the appearance of a 1-2 yr old "normal" ig.
Its sad, and happens more than one may think.

: Hello
: I know there are a couple pics displaying the burns and scars that hot rocks can cause to green iguanas (and other reptiles) I would really appreciate a picture asap, or a link to one.
: Why? Local store here has a green ig. I went and talked to the employees today, they were great, and I mentioned bringing a caresheet, and talking to the head of their department. They gave me his card, and when he is in. They also jumped to the idea of a caresheet. This ig is getting very basic care - Pellet and frozen veggie diet, warm basking spot, reptiglo floursecent (good or bad? I dont know this brand), hot rock (ick) and low humdity. He is pretty beat up, but shows no extreme signs of MBD
at this time.
: So - long story short (sort of) Im going to try and construct a caresheet for the store (along with plenty of ig links, including here) and econimcal recomenedations. Any links to articles, important info to include, etc. would be much appreciated.
: Thanks for your time!
