For some reason, the reply I made never posted...Maybe I'm getting senile..... You can now purchase ActiveUV bulbs at PetCompany - at $80 a pop. OR you can hit someplace online like HerpSupplies.com and pick them up for about $50 each.... We do all of our business with John there. Never had a bad experience with them although I have to admit that I liked the ride to the old location MUCH better..;)~ Nothing like 45 minutes on country roads to calm yourself....But I digress....
The radiant heat panels can also be found at HerpSupplies.com. The Enerjoy brand has it's own website as well but off the top of my head I'm not sure of the URL but a search should pull it up. We've been running an 18"x24" panel in Mel's 6x6x3 for close to 2 years now nonstop and have had absolutely zero problems with it. Definitely worth the investment in my book. There are also other companies that produce panels. I just heard of one in Haverhill, MA. You might want to do a search for panels and do some price comparison just to be safe....
The humidifier you can find at any Wal or K mart.
MV bulb - $50
10" dome ceramic fixture - $10
Radiant heat panel - $50-100
Temp controller for panel -$25
Ultrasonic humidifier - $40-$45
Humidistat for humidifier- ??
2 power strips - $15+
Timer to control MV bulb - $10
The bulb can be placed on top of the enclosure provided thatit is secured. Cut a hole in the top of the new enclosure over the proposed basking site. Cover the hole from the inside with 1/2" hardware cloth secured with staples. Make ABSOLUTELY sure that the staples are seated securely. Perforated bowels in iguanas are not pretty. Be sure to use 1/2" as well as we are not yet sure if 1/4" cloth interferes with the UV rays. 1/2" is also better because there's less of a chance of snagging claws on it.
The RHP can be mounted either on a high wall out of the way or right to the ceiling of the enclosure. I prefer the ceiling - out of the way, less chance that an ig will come in contact with it even though there will be no immediate burn. Better safe than sorry. Run the sensor wire for the temp controller however you like as long as it's out of the way and the ig can't snag it.
The humidifier can be done one of two ways. Either place it directly in the enclosure, taking up floor space and risking either being knocked over, scratched, or pooped on OR mount it on a shelf outside the enclosure and use PVC pipe to fit over the humidifier port and plumb humidity to wherever you want it to enter into the enclosure. This will most likely be easier to access as you will most likely have to fill it daily...
Don't hesitate to drop us a line directly if you'd rather... We'll do what we can to help...;)
