: Depending on your basic carpentry skills and your location in the country you might be able to build a decent enclosure from scratch for about $500 depending on lumber cost. You could also look around at second hand things - old entertainment centers etc. - that might be retrofitted to house an ig. Personally, if you have the tools/initiative to build one I'd go that way. Use some quality wood, nice stain/paint, 4 or 5 coats of polyurethane if you do stain, mount your electronics and you've got exactly what you want for an enclosure. OR if you hit the lottery in the near future I'll collect my consulting fee and tell you to make it easy on yourself and contact JWorld for one of their neat little $2500 jobs...;)
: Bottom line - only you know exactly what your budget is, your limitations are, and what lumber prices are in your neck of the woods. As I have mentioned in the past, we recommend a mercury vapor bulb, a radiant heat panel, and an ultrasonic humidifier for electronics - along with all of the associated controlling units. Those three pieces and associated gak will run you around $200. But there are various warranties that you can take advantage of. An RHP can warranty for 10 years. An Active UV bulb warrants for 1 year. I think even a Vicks humidifier hasa 1 year warranty on it. It's all about spending money WISELY as opposed to cheaply. Especially in this hobby, the cheap way can end up costing you more. Look down the road when it comes to purchases and get the most for your money. Feel free to drop me a line if you'd like more details...;)
