I have a very calm ig so I've never had that problem, but from other posts here I've learned how to handle more aggressive behavior. I'm sure you'll get lots of posts for this one. What works best for me is to be firm but gentle about handling the ig - don't let it get away if you've decided to hold it. A good investment would be a heavy pair of work or bird-handling gloves - that way your arms won't get torn up quite so much. Also you could use a towel or other soft thing to pick him up, then he'll bite at the towel instead of you. The main thing is to make sure the ig knows you're the boss - if it learns that it can be aggressive and get away with it, it will become harder and harder to control it.
Again, my ig is wimpy by comparison to yours, but I'm just sharing some of what I've learned from other people. Good luck and be patient - most of them (usually) come around eventually.
