It took quite a long time for Max to come over to me. I would bring him over and he would leave as soon as he could. UNLESS he was cold and felt I was warm, then he'd hang around. Now I lie on the bed and watch TV and he comes jumping over and hangs around for a while. At night, he will lay with me until he goes to sleep.

You could bring him to your room and then "ignore" him and see what happens.
