CORNISH GUARDIAN (Truro, UK) 19 January 02 Animal Crackers!
Zazu the pet iguana gets a cuddle from his teenage owner - blissfully unaware of the havoc she has caused.
She went missing at Ashley Bray's home last week, and the family literally smashed their house up to hunt for her.
Ashley and his father Richard, 42, gave up looking for the eight-year-old reptile after smashing holes in the kitchen, ceiling and newly-decorated bathroom.
Ashley spotted Zazu's tail sticking out of a vent pipe in the kitchen. He went to grab her, but she disappeared further up the pipe and the hunt was on.
They even called in Dynarod to use camera gear and mirrors at their home in Newton Abbot, Devon.
Then they searched their loft - and those of four others in the terrace rank.
Just as the family had given up all hope of seeing the three-foot long lizard again she reappeared.
"We are all so relieved she has turned up, " said Ashley, who bought the pet six years ago.
"My step-mother Sarah was taking some plates into the kitchen and she was just sat there by the cooker.
"She is the only person in the house scared of Zazu and she screamed, ran out of the kitchen and ended up sitting on the dining table."
Several flesh-eating pet lizards have been found feasting on the corpse of their owner in his apartment in the US. Officers were called to 42-year-old Ronald Huff 's apartment in Newark, Delaware, after he failed to show up for work. The cause of his death has not yet been determined.
Wes' Comment: I find it interestiung and a touch disturbing how the two unrelated items are combined in one article.
