At the time of the story, the cause of death was unknown. If anyone can provide an update that would be great, otherwise I wouldn't assume that this guy was KILLED and eaten by his monitors. It's possible he suffered a heart attack or stroke and was devoured after his death when his animals got hungry. There are lots of stories about carnivorous/omnivorous animals devouring people who die of natural causes. Pigs are especially good at this. If you don't want to be eaten after you die, don't die suddenly in a pig lot! Just a reminder not to jump to conclusions :)
