...for bad pet store owners say aye!!

: Hi all. My friend contacted me the other day and informed me that she was moving from Dallas to California at the end of the month. We talked for awhile (we had not talked since probably August or so) I asked her what she was going to do with her ig. She didn't know and I offered to adopt it from her. I went over there on Friday to get the ig from her and this was her set up - recommeded by Petco:

: 30 gal aquarium
: hot rock
: bark substrate (not sure what it was)
: lettuce to feed him (iceburg)
: crickets for a snack

: I immediately told her that lettuce and crickets was a big No-No and the hot rock was to. I put my hand in to pick up the ig and it totally freaked out - obviously she had no handled it much in the year that she had it. It was also WAY under weight (Im thinking MBD). Well, on the way home from her house the ig broke one of his front legs. I carefully reset the leg taped it and then taped it to its body. I observed it for a day and noticed it would not eat the fresh veggies I set out for her. I went to the store and bought baby food, Ensure, Pedialite, Calsium sups and a plastic dosing syringe - one like you would give your child liquid medicine with. I have been feeding her the special foods for a few days now with the syringe and she has been eating the food pretty good. She has actually gained weight! She broke her other front leg on Sunday - I reset it taped it and then taped it to her body also. She drags herself around by her back legs and she is actually getting used to me getting her out of her cage and feeding her, bathing her and just holding her. Petco needs to quit selling these precious creatures or get educated about them, themselves. The former preferred. I wish I could go set up a chair and sit there with this injured ig (and my other three rescues) next to their iguana cage so people could see what THEY are causing just to make a buck. OK - I'm done ranting now. -SIGH-
