Absolutely not. Debate may rage as to whether or not they eat insects in the wild but the thing that people tend to forget is that if we're talking about it here then it's mostly likely a captive iguana. In captive cases it is best not to feed animal protein of any kind as various kidney and liver damage will most likely occur at some point in the future. Iguanas are simply not designed to process large amounts of animal protein.
The argument that "If it wasn't good for them they wouldn't eat it." can be tried. My answer to it is simple. I was clipping Mel's claws one night about a year ago and she tried to eat the clippers. Judging by that I should assume that nail clippers should be included in her diet.
Animal protein is sometimes used to "powerfeed" or bulk up an iguana. This method of feeding will help create a big, seemingly stroung and healthy iguana but at the same time it is shortening it's lifespan drastically.
