I also would recommend a vet if the tail is hanging there. Ig's tails can break off fairly easily. Last winter mine got his caught between the wall and my radiator cover and lost it, but it grew back healthy. Their tails are kind of "break away" (the lower part of them), so in the wild when enemies grab their tails, the ig can lose the tail and keep going.
