: I got mine from a local breeder...He is some kind of mix...not sure exactly what but the breeder was trying to breed for various color phases (he wasn't from a sandfire lineage) He has oranges and yellows but markings of a normal. Anyway, on the bearded dragon forum there are a lot of reputable breeders that praised. I would check into them...hang out there for awhile. Look at photos of the parents and of the dragon you want to buy if you plan to pay a lot for color. Remember, sometimes they brighten up a lot once they are older, but they should definitely show some color as juveniles. I don't see as many beardies up for adoption...except when they are missing limbs or have medical problems...maybe missing a tail (but sometimes only a discount for that)
: The link below is to a family who used to be on the beardie forum a lot. I see them pop up now and again...but they have their own site. Anyway, they have a lot of experience and breed beardies...seem like good people. There are others over there as well, some breeding fantastic colors, but I don't know their reputations for breeding (health/care wise). Really, if you found a breeder locally that allowed you to pick yours out and play with him/her...it would be ideal. Most have good personalities, but they are all different and some can be more aggressive than others. Although you can get them younger, 3 months is a great age (higher survivability rate after this) and hardy enough for more handling and bonding.
: Beardies are just sooooo awesome! Sorry for going on and on. 2 pieces of advice you may already know:
: 1. No sand until they reach adulthood at least(I don't use it at all anymore)
: 2. Never use calcisand ever ever ever
: 3. No live prey bigger than the space btw their eyes-- can paralyze them.
: Good luck and let me know what you decide.
