Although I definitely think she needs to go to the vet anyway, to get tested and treated for internal parasites, etc; The spike thing might be a result of built up shed skin on the spikes, I've heard this can happen, but I'm no expert by any means. In any case, she really ought to get a checkup, regardless of what the cause is.
