Hi Rachel! This is Ig Chick, I'm Mr. D's wife. I understand that your dad wouldn't be too thrilled about reading the post, most people wouldn't be. The thing is, because Mr. D and I are involved in reptile rescue to the degree that we are, when we read your post, we were obligated to share that information with both you and your parents.

I hate to have to say it, but since you seem to understand that your iguana isn't getting the things that it needs to be healthy and he/she is being denied the heat that iguanas require, in our particular state (which is New Hampshire) that is a crime. Just two days ago, we had to report a local shop that had invited us to give an education event because the shop owner is knowingly denying an iguana medical care and proper housing. It's not the greatest feeling in the world to have to confront people with the information but it is our legal obligation not to mention our moral obligation.

What I can tell your parents is that we are currently housing 12 iguanas, 2 bearded dragons, 1 albino kingsnake, a 9 year old macaw and a dog and our house DOES NOT smell! In fact, we've had people come in that were so sure our house was going to stink that they almost fall over when it doesn't. I had one gal say to me "you're house smells better than mine and I don't have any animals!". It's all in how clean you are keeping your space!

I hate to say it Rachel because it seems like you really care for your iguana but if you can't provide the things that it needs then you need to find it a new home. If animal odor was an issue, you should't have brought one home in the first place. If mom or dad has a problem with anything we've had to say, please tell them to feel free to send us a private email.

I wish you all the success in the world!

Jenna
