: M.Eguro is certain right. My first little ig,
Merlin, was quick to tame down. Our little ig,
Sneakers is taking a little longer. Sneakers is
so full of life and vitality that it is taking a
little longer. Patience and not taking it
personally will get you the end result that you
desire. Always talk to your ig and move slowly.
I learned, from this forum, to put your hand in
the cage and move it a distance from the ig that
it is comfortable with and just leave your hand
there for a while as you talk gentlely to them.
Do this several times a day without actually
trying to pick them up. After a while, you should
be able to slowly move your hand over and pet them
without the little ig going crazy. It is a matter
of letting them know that they don't need to be
afraid of you and your not going to eat them. I
will also wigley my fingers slowly also. If you
get to close and he/she does go crazy do not
remove your hand, this will re-enforce bad
behavior. Keep your hand in the cage, wait til
iggy settles down and repeat. Only remove your
hand when the ig is calm and not running all over
the place. I learned this from someone who hasn't
been on the forum in a while, Roman. If by chance
you read this Roman, thanks again for that advise,
it really works.
: Good Luck, Joan
I've said this before and I don't know if it helped the other questioner but it's worked for us taming 3 savs, 3 bd and 3 igs in ten yrs. We always put an old tshirt of ours in thei cage. Even though its clean, your scent is still on it and it helps the lizard get use to you. We even wear one tshirt two days in a row whe we handle the lizard. It really does work . As Joan stated a lot of patience too.
