As far as transport ... you may want to look into a carrier like we use. We got ours at WalMart for less than $10.00. It's a large plastic sweater box with a snap on lid, they are about 4 feet long. We line it with a cotton sheet and throw a pillow in it. Our igs seem to enjoy rides in the car but for those who don't the box can be covered with a blanket. It's great because we can see the ig in the box before we try to take him/her out -saves on bitten fingers and tail whips!
