the nylon can withstand the heat from 100 watt regular household bulbs with no damage at all. I wouldn't use the Reptarium as a permanent cage since they are open and it's hard to maintain humidity. I also had a rescue that had extremely poor bone density break a leg as a result of getting a claw stuck in the mesh.
