I actually did spen some time with him last night...actually I am reading your comments today for the first time, so its comforting to know that I am making the right call. I rubbed him for a while and gave him a bath to help him out with his shed, and realized that I was going to stick it through. But aside from keeping his enclosure clean, I need to keep it sanatized. I am going to take the following measures, but need some info:
1. I plan to put linolem on the parts of his enclosure where he poops and eats, and where his water tank is. THOSE AREAS ARE GETTING MOLDY WOOD. HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?
2. Exactly what should I use to clean and sanitize?
3. I've been feeding him using paper plates so that I don't have to clean and disinfect a dish everyday. Is That practical?
I want to thank you for your help. Freddy it staying.
: As long as Freddy is being kept clean and well cared for you should be fine. Just remember to sanitize your hands after you handle Freddy. Keep a bottle of sanitizer next to/on top of his enclosure to remind you. As long as he's not a free-roamer and there's no chance that he'll poop anywhere in the house other than his enclosure you should be fine as far as salmonella goes.
: If you feel that Freddy isn't getting enough attention and can't do anything to rearrange schedules at all then go ahead and start looking for a facility that could take him.
: Good luck.....
