Cleaning cages every day is certainly not fun. Spending hundreds of dollars to build/buy a cage isn't all that much fun. Getting tail whipped and bitten isn't all that much fun either. Dropping a few hundred/thousand dollars on vet care certainly isn't fun. I don't think the word fun has ever entered into it for me, atleast not in the sense that a dog is "fun" to play with.

Why did I first get an iguana? Because I truely found them to be fascinating creatures and felt that my life would be enriched by having one share my home. I knew up front the cost and care requirements of an iguana and was 100% perpared and financially capable of properly caring for an iguana. The rescue work came much later and in all honesty, we just sort of fell into that part of it.

I guess all the "prolific posts" come from people who knew what they were getting into with an iguana from day one or have learned the hard why what the requirements are and have a HUGE problem with the number of people who think it's going to be "fun" or "cool" to have an iguana. It's not fun, it's a ton of hard work. Like anything else in life, you get out of it what you put into it. Having any animal, iguana, dog, bird, watever, can be a rewarding experience. SO I guess that's what it really comes down to.
