: Just been reading over some of the posts on this forum and others and was overwhelmed by the sheer idiocy of a large number of posters. I just love it when someone comes on here and trys to get free advice on how to cure their pet when in reality only qualified veterinary treatments will save. I'm only a kid they say, I don't have the money for a vet. Or, I only paid 30 dollars for it, it's not worth the money. No wonder the Humane Society is screaming to end our hobby. I'd have to say that the vaste majority of keepers practice inadequate and improper husbandry. It's a miracle most animals see their second birthday. Reptiles are zoo quality animals that need very specific care in order to thrive and that takes money, lots of money. Big cages, heating, lighting and proper nutrition cost more than the average yahoo can afford. And even with the best of care vet visits are occassionally required. So do us all a favor, if you don't have the money, buy a gigapet instead When the batteries finally die and your're too cheap to replace them, nothing of significance will have died.
