hmm... *ponders* my best guess is that this is normal with her growth. This is the "Crown", so to speak, behind the head that you are speaking of, yes? This grows as the spikes grow. But since she has no pikes, its just growing on its own.

(forgive any incoherence in this.. sleep deprivation is setting in ^-^)
