Sprouts are a wonderful addition to an iguana diet! There is a soncern that the sprouts available in the grocery are more prone to carry salmonella so many folks who feed sprouts to their critters sprout their own. It's not dificult and is good for both the ig and you.
Broccoli and carrots are ok to feed -just not every day. We don't feed broccoli at all on any kind of basis, in fact if our igs have had in once in the past 12 months that would be a lot. Carrots they get maybe twice a month. On our website The Iguana Spot, there are several original articles on iguana nutrition you can check out if you are so inclined.
As a rule of thumb we concentrate on feeding a variety of greens and the vegetables we feed are extra but not the bulk of the salad we make. In other words, an average salad around here would be made up of collard greens, dandelion, zucchini, butternut squash, wax beans and snow peas. If I had to break that down into physical measurements it would amount to 1 cup of chopped or shredded veggies to every 3 cups of chopped greens.
