ah yes, baby iguana's can be a horror. I am "watching" a baby iguana until May and he is like satans spawn himself. He is very aggressive and has even bit me once, drawing blood. The best thing that you can do is be gentle, quiet, and slow moving around him. you are a giant, unknown, very hunry-looking beast in his eyes. When you hold him sit in a room with no loud noises or quick, sharp movements. Be fluid with your movements and just have a bit of "quiet time" where he can get used to your touch and presence. Even by sitting and watching him in his tank he may get used to you a bit more. Do nothing to envoke fear. Speak to him in a gentle voice. Persistence is key. Do not be discouraged. It may take from weeks to months to "tame" an iguana (although, since they are wild animals, they will never truly be tamed). Some iguana's never become "nice". Harry, an iguana on this forum is renowned for his aggressive demeanor.
Some iguana's like my Tarzan have always been tame and calm. Others like Gally, the baby have a nasty disposition and will take great lengths, efforts, and measures to tame.
Keep trying, you will get it eventually. Baby iguana's are petrified of giant people, and are renowned for being skittish. GOOD LUCK!
