Igs purchased from a petstore just further the sale of more iguanas which in most cases are doomed from the start. Much better to adopt, and give a rescued ig a chance at life. There are many, many out there that need homes, and if you really want a female, adopt an older ig which can be sexed. Young igs cannot be sexed except by probing, which is a procedure that should only be done by extremely knowledgible and careful persons. Even then, the procedure is not 100% accurate, but rathert only as reliable as the experience of the person that does it...
