: Raylene,

: I think you're meaning to say he's 4 to 5 inches SVL... this stands for Snout-to-Vent-Lentgh, there vent is right by the base if the tail, in between their legs. This is where they "do their business". Another form of measurement used is STL wich is Snout-to-Tail-Lenght, both are used frequently.

: As for the christmas tree... I dont know about that one. When their young and small they like to hide, makes them feel safe. But before you let them stay out a lot, you should be sure that they are somewhat tame for easy handling. Also, you need to "iguana proof" all the rooms Gozilla frequently visits. This means you have to cover small holes that he could get into, and in genaeral making the room safe for him. Its just like child-proofing, only thier realy small and green... But I'd stay away from the tree, while it may not do any harm for now, he may try to eat something on the tree... and I dont think that would be good for him. Besides, if he gets used to it, every year will be the same thing, and eventually you'll have a 5-6' lizard as a decoration your tree!

: About the light, iguanas are like people in some ways, sometimes their mood changes, and they want to be in the dark. but of he's out of the light for a long time, then you should be concerned, and should takle him to a vet for a checkup.

: I think the Papaya is ok for them... but dont quote me on that.

: As for salmonella, I havent had a problem with it. To my understanding its generally caught throught their feces, just be sure that when your done handling him, to wash your hands with anti-bacterial soap, and anywhere he may have pooped. Just be sure to be clean and you shouldn't have a problem either.

: A little lengthy yes.. but I hope I answered your questions.

Thanks for the reply!!

Hiya
lol I suppose the image of an iguana as an angel / star at the top is a little wierd. He just loves that tree! I just hate animals in cages...

Embarrassing , but I only asked with regards to the salmonella because well..how can I put this..my and my sons...(POOP) hasnt been solid for about 3 days now???
