Hi, since I got Maya, I have always used the repile basking
spotlights; the expensive ones. It's Maya's first winter with me and
here in Canada it's COLD. First I put a 100 watt, but it wasn't hot
enough 80-85 degrees (i'm aiming for 90-95 degrees). Then I tried a
150 watt, it good but the light is bigger than the 100 watt and it
toutches the metal top of the cage (it worries me). Also, last week,
I noticed that Maya's little horn on his nose was burned a little on
the tip. I'm still not sure is was burnes, but it was black so...I
assumes that he put his nose on the screen where the light it (since
the light toutches the screen). So, worried I took the 150 watt out
and put the 100 back. Also when I went to home depot not long ago I
bought a house hold halogene spot light, it works but it's still not
hot enough. I was just wondering for those who buy regular house
light or house spot light, what wattage do you use? the halogene spot
light I bought was 90 watt and it was pretty much equivalent in heat
than the 100 watt reptile basking light. Any suggestions, ideas?
Thanks, Helene
