: seasonal behavior is what I heard and read on the internet. How long would it last? How do i make sure that this is seasonal behavior and not sick ig? my ig.'s waste is little now...used to be a big chunk....is it normal?

With the waist noticeably thinner, your ig needs to see a vet. I just had an adult green ig treated for parasites and her appetite improved drastically. A fecal exam + a blood test can confirm that the problem is or is not some kind of sickness.

An ig must be a minimum of one to 1 1/2 years old before it can have a season or bear a clutch of eggs.

Take my 6 year old male for instance: he is going nuts, head-bobbing, hatcheting, and power-walking all around the house looking for his honey, the female green ig. He is eating much less and typically does this around this time of year. But he does not lose so much weight that I can notice it. It lasts until about the end of December with him. Individual igs vary in how intense their hormonal behavior is and how long it lasts. It can disappear in a month or hang on for four months.

Hope this helps...

Roger
