::::if anyone has a female green iguana that they dont want plese post a response. i wanna breed him.
Hi "hbk"
Hmmmm.....
You've come to the wrong place, buddy. All the folks on here LOVE their iguanas and would never ever give them away to an inexperienced kid who wants to BREED them! There are SO many unwanted iguanas in the world as it is, let alone, having you breed more. Please DO NOT breed them.
We are doing our best to spread the word that there should be no more baby iguanas bred casually. There are plenty of iguanas in the word who are mistreated, unwanted, forgotten about, and who die needless deathes because people like you think of them as property. Even in your post, it is evident that you think of them as just a project or an object. You said, "if anyone has a female green iguana that they don't want, please post a response." Like it's just that simple. Like any of us would ever say, "Gee, I have one I *don't want* maybe I should give her to that kid!" Dream on.
80-90% of all baby iguanas DIE within the first year in captivity because people don't know how to care for them. Why would you want to breed your igs, sell the babies, only to know they were most likely going to die once you've sold them for a lousy $9.99 a piece? Breeding iguanas is a VERY time-consuming, COST consuming expensive, involved occupation. Iguanas take a ton of care, time, and energy to raise properly, let alone to breed well.
This is not a forum where breeders can get hooked up with free iguanas for pet projects. It's a forum where we are dedicated iguana rescuers, owners, and those others who are interested in becoming so come together to learn, to teach, to listen and to ask questions about how they can better care for their animals. We do not advise breeding iguanas, and would not support you doing so.
Please think about the things I have said. I don't mean to be rude, but I do want to make my point loud and clear.
If you have questions about your own male iguana, like how to better feed him, what lights he should have etc. feel free to ask those questions here, but if you bring up breeding igs, I'm afraid you'll get 50 people jumping down your throat. Not a good idea. :)
