...one day there is a major accident at your place. These are animals in the end...and you can never predict when they will turn on one another (have a bad day or get frightened). I would never leave my animals out together unsupervised.

I used to have a parakeet who loved to sit on my iguana... always wanted to be near him. Well, we would always watch them when they were together because both of them had the potential to get hurt. One night, our parakeet got out of his cage when we were in the other room. Our iguana was up high across the room on a wicker bookshelf. Our parakeet's wings were clipped but he proceeded to climb the shelf until he was up there... all we heard was this terrible squawking! We rushed to the living room and saw our parakeet falling from the top of the shelf-- wing bloody and bent. To this day we don't know exactly what happened but figure he either got caught under our 5ft. iguana's claw or almost was a snack! The parakeet still wanted to hang out with our ig even after this event...and he would often try to peck at his spines (which may have provoked some kind of response that night...we'll never know) Even though our ig always tolerated the bird, you can never tell when ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and one of your animals will get hurt!
