Yeah, like the others have said Iguanas (and most other animals) are creatures of habit.
Something new always arouses emotions (fear, curiosity, even anger).
We house-sit a dog occasionally for a friend, but it's the dog that's afraid of the Iguanas now. But then, our two Iguanas are 3ft and 4ft long and the dog's a 2ft long sausage dog :)
Since the dog accidentally wandered into their path once (we used to let them free-roam occasionally out in the back porch), and Skittles whipped the dog, the dog doesn't go anywhere near them, but it didn't seem to phase the igs.
But like I said, they're fairly big igs, and a fairly small dog, and the igs are used to seeing other animals here (other reptiles, birds & a rabbit), so nothing surprises them any more, heh.
It's all a matter of knowing your animals, and being about to pre-guess their reactions, and know how to act accordingly depending on what those reactions are.
But as has been suggested, even if they can't see each other, the Igs may be able to smell the cat's scent (and vice versa maybe), so be very cafeful :)
