If pellets was all he ate, he will be a picky eater when you introduce new foods. It sounds to me like you will have to ween him off the pellets instead of having him give them up "cold turkey". You could try putting some pellets on his salad. That way he will eat some of the salad when he goes to eat the pellets. Then begin giving him less and less pellets with each meal until the pellets are all gone. Maybe others on the board will have more ideas for you. Hope that helps!
