Hi. I just got the call from the vet about the blood work for JJ, my 1 yr iguana. All levels perfectly in normal range! Yay! I really like this vet. He asked alot of questions about husbandry, to get a feel for how I was doing, and said JJ looked great. I was thinking JJ was a boy, and although he can't be 100% at this early date, this vet thinks he's a she! Sigh. I think I would rather deal with male mating season crazies than an egg bound female... but I am smitten with this little girl, and my husband likes to brag that she is the tamest one we've ever had! One thing the vet mentioned that I had not been doing was to mist her food daily. He said in the wild they (of course) are in a very humid environment, and the leaves they eat often have dew or rainwater on them, so they get a lot of moisture that way. He said misting her food everyday can help provide her with extra mosture that MAY help prevent kidney problems. I just thoght I'd mention it...
Thank you to all who encouraged me to immediately drop the vet who told me he couldn't get a blood sample! I am so glad I did!
