Tiny igs only want to hide and eat, so many people keep them in enclosuers for the first six months. Then they are bigger and a bit easier to find.
But, if you have a room that is very ig-proof, I don't see why a very small ig can't free-roam in it. It's worth a try. Just provide warmth and a basking spot, and train him to know where it is.
The biggest problem for owners is the ability of small igs to hide. The biggest problem for the tiny ig is it's tendancy to stay in a cold dark and small hiding place the whole time.
If, after two weeks of trials, all the ig does is hide, try again in six months.
