I'd say definitely cut the nail tips off. Why have ripped up arms and hands if you don't have to?

A tip I've learned the hard way is to use a buddy to help you. It's MUCH easier if one person holds and distracts the ig while the other is free to carefully clip off just the tip of each nail.

Also, sometimes an ig will only permit you to do one "hand" or "foot" at a time. This is fine. Do one a day if that's all you can get done before he/she wigs out. Sometimes we do them all in one sitting, but usually, it takes us two or three "sessions" before we are done. But it's well worth it. My arms finally look normal again!
