Re: general iggy stuff
Hi! My names Toni and I've raised a couple of hatchlings, so I'll give you my input...
1. so far, none of my igs (I've had about 9 or 10, and still have 5) have liked the bath; they always seem to attempt to get out of the tub, or at least try to escape for awhile before finally resigning themselves to being stuck there, then ususally they'll calm down for a bit. Make sure that the water is shallow enough for her to touch the bottom, so they feel more secure. After you put her in, just remove your hand and stick around for a bit watching or talking to her. If nothing else, she should relax once she gets tired of trying to climb the smooth sides of the tub. BTW, thye tub seems to work better than a small container, because they can't climb out.
2. As long as your feeding her greens and veggies cut up very small so she can eat them easily, it should be ok. Give her a while to adjust to the new home, and depending on what she used to be fed, maybe she's getting used to a new diet also.
3. Handling her everyday is the best thing to do with her right now...keep her used to it and it will help a lot in the long run. Also talk to her anytime you can, even if you're not holding her at the time.
4. I think your setup sounds great, except maybe for adding a regular light bulb for daytime (I've noticed that the uvb aren't very bright on their own) I don't think it's necessary to have water across the whole bottom of the tank..
Hope my experience is a little bit of help. Feel free to e-mail me direct if you want. (I don't usually have time to look at the forums). Good luck with your baby. Bye, Toni
