: Help!
: I've had my ig (hatchling) for like three days now and she(he?) won't eat! I took it to the vet today and he said everything looks fine. I have her tank at ~95 degrees and I went to the store and BOUGHT tons of veggies and mixed them up really good (kind of gloppy consistency) and she ate a little bit when I held her above the bowl but she won't eat by herself! I've had her in with the food for about an hour now. Am I panicking or did I do something wrong? I thought I put all the right veggies in (collards, squash, strawberries, carrots, ig food mix, dash of calcium powder)....please help!

Do you have part of the cage where the iggy can get out of the 95 degree heat? Make your iggie a little "hide" box. When mine was tiny, I cut a shoebox in half and cut a little door in it. Also, at night, mine would go rammy if any light was on. I covered the cage and turned everything off. My house temp. is usually set around 70-72, so it was okay. In fact, I don't usually use heat at night, but if I get up around 4, I will turn on the heating pad.

When it comes to the food, cut it up in teeny pieces or the ig can't handle it. You can let the leaves whole (mine always loved ripping at them). You can let the food in the cage all the time, along with water. Even though you don't see it drink, it probably is (and might be eating) when you're not looking.

Don't forget -- your iggie is new and very very afraid. It doesn't know the surroundings and doesn't know you won't hurt it. Handle it and talk to it as much as you can. Let it out to explore (of course while it's tiny you can't just let it go anywhere). You can give it warm baths to soothe it (also a good way to potty train it, help it when it sheds and to keep it clean). I've had mine for about a year and a half and it seems they do NOT like loudness. It stresses mine very much.
