Here are a few for you to look at:
Iguanas may [delete "may"] grow to be 6 feet long and weigh 20 pounds.
[-In a short time they need six-feet-wide cages. Later they need bigger cages.]
Iguanas may live for 15 or more years.
[-you will inherit a huge reptile when your child leaves home.]
Iguanas require an adult for regulate diet.
[-They need chopped fresh greens every day.]
Iguanas [will] become aggressive as they age [if not given a lot of attention.]
[- at one to two years old iguanas enter sexual maturation which makes them unsafe for children.]
Iguana bites often require stitches [and always bleed after about six months of age.]
Iguanas may carry salmonella and require hygiene practices around young children.
Iguanas often become sick and [heartbreakingly] die.
[-Lack of owner’s knowledge = large vet bills.]
Supplies for the iguana are not cheap.
[-For instance, $40 (retail) UVB lamp every 6 mo.]
Iguanas often carry worms and do require veterinary care.
Iguanas require attention every day.
The local zoos do not have room for unwanted pet reptiles.
[Large iguanas are worth zero money.]
[It is very hard to out-place a large or sick iguana.]
Ownership of any pet reptile requires research for dietary and environmental needs.
An idea: For the graphic, show a tiny cute ig (on a hand over a piece of Christmas wrapping paper?), and another pic of a child holding a large one in hachet-display, shredded wrapping paper hanging from it's claws.
