Well I have a great time finding new items I have not tried on them before. They seem to love variety but also have there special favorites. I have to Adult Iguana's(housed completly seperate)
I usually feed a combination of collard, mustard, dandelion greens(when available) also watercress and parsley. While one loves fruit and I have to be careful not to overdue it the other one will hardly ever touch it. They both love there greens and eat them right up! I also give them all differen't kinds of squash(they seem to prefer anything yellow)they love bellpeppers. I also give carrots, peas, beans, potatoes(they love sweet potatoes) I sometimes just cut the veggies on top of the greens but have noticed when i grate them on top of the greens they usually eat more greens. Miya loves figs(My new house has a fig tree!!yeah!~ he has been loving it!also loves grapes and bananas and mangos and starfruit. any kind of fruit really. Ziggy however will hardly ever eat a bite of fruit. Mainly they eat greens and veggies. They don't get fruit everyday. I also give them pasta and rice a couple times a week and usually only a bite or two. They love this and since i have done this Miya the mean has become much sweeter and seems to trust me and even lets me pet him and actually seems to love it!!~ before he cringed when i touched him. I have had him since January and its taken him 9 months to finally tame down. I guess it took him a while to forget about all the bad owners he had before me. Well all i have left to say is I believe variety is the key~ if you restrict them to a few items they may not get the viamins they need. Have fun and take care of your iggys~ Tif

: I've been frequenting this forum for the past few months, not long after I got my little guy Ezekial, or "Zeek" for short. One thing I've noticed is the wide variety of diets people give their iguanas.

: I just thought of the idea of sharing all of our diets with one another, either to improve, modify or just plain ol' share our ideas. Who knows, we may come up with some Iggy-Super-Diet!

: First off, remember, we're all here to help, no need to criticise or flame, just correct.

: Anyway, guess I'll start.

: I get a variety of greens, I always use Collard Greend as they're packed with calcium. I also like to use dandilion greend and kale, their really easy to get around here, and Zeek loves the kale in the mix, adds some flavor I think.

: As for veggies, I use carrot quite a bit, but have used cauliflower before.

: Fruit... well, he absolutely loves banana, he'll dig through his food sometimes just to pick it out. But I've used grapes, pear and apple before too.

: New to his mix are bean sprouts, they're rather wattery so they should hydrate the diet a little more.

: I usually use a food processor to chop everything up as he's still a small guy, and throw it all in a big bowl and mix it really well. I use a muffin tray to scoop it all into and freeze it all. The muffin tray makes a great meal size serving and is real easy to use. I take out a serving the night before and let it thaw in the fridge, it comes out surprisingly fresh, smelling as good as the day it was made.

: Aparantly this works, as Zeek seems to be very healthy. He has a wonderful bright green colour to him and is fattening up nicely. But I'll still take any suggestions.

: I know it was long, but I did go into detail... I hope you all share.
