: Gangerine, like the human kind, is an infection gone toxic. I am not a medical person, but the danger in not treating an infection, is that gangerine will set in and cause death or the need to amputate something. It is not contagious to the others, but needs to be checked out for a qualified person. I have seen tails dry up and fall off, but if this continues, then there is a serious problem.
