: I want to be a first time lizard owner and was looking at some green iguana's and didn't know if they are suitable for a 15 year old first time owner, suggestions?
: thanks,
: alex
Green Iguanas make nice first time pets even for a 15 year old IF (a big IF):
-you do your research on housing and -very important- feeding and nutritional needs before you buy the lizard
-you are prepared to have money and space for an enclosure of AT LEAST 7 x 7 x 3 ft
-you are willing to spend money on 200-800W of electricity 12-14 hours each day
-you can gurantee all this for a period of at least 15, more likely 20-30 years.
If you can not give a clear YES to al these Qs, you will end up with an ill or dead lizard or at least with another Iguana searching a new home after you have moved, hav founded a family or just have no spare time between full time job and family. Remember: A lot will happen to your life in the next 30 years!
So think twice and then think again
If you are still reading: Green Igs make great Pets if all their specific needs are refgarded!
Have a nice day!
