I agree Mr.D. If anyone wants to read the best caresheet/information sheet on the green iguana, check out Melissa Kaplan's caresheet on green iguanas. There is a link to it in the HerpIndex. She writes all about animal protein and what it can do to your iguana, etc...
To sum it up, it is BAD to feed your iguana any type of meat. OLD literature says green iguanas are Omnivorous, but in any RECENT studies, you will find that iguanas have been classified as strictly herbivorous. Their liver and kidneys can not handle animal proteins. They were designed to break down plant matter. And if you have taken Biology 151, you would know that what a plant is made of is MUCH different than what an animal protein is. Plants are mostly sugars, animals are not. Iguanas cannot eat animal proteins. An occaisonal bug on the leaf they are eating won't hurt, but don't let it happen often. In captivity this can be completely avoided.
