: is it possible to create an iguana cage with natural substrate with live plants? I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to see pics or plans where someone has done this. I am just not sure if it would be feasible, would it get too toxic after time?

From the little bit of reading I've seen on this -- it's not a good idea. Out in the wild where it's like that, it's a huge area and rain washes their waste away, etc., etc., but in an enclosed area it's difficult to do that. Since their waste can carry salmonella, it's a bit dangerous.
Now, live plants are recommended, provided they are non-toxic to the iguana. The article also said something about growing your own, so you KNOW they haven't been sprayed with any chemicals.
Hope this helps.
