I still wouldn't do it, and here's why...

Hi Georgia,

I too, have thought my igs were bored in the past, but in reality, I don't think they are. As long as you have some interesting things for him to climb, somewhere to hide, some plants (fake are best) for him to sit in and around, and plenty of food and attention, Egor is not going to be bored.

I also wanted to add that it's not always true that females are more loving and sweet...our female, "Habib" can be quite fiesty. In fact, she has bitten my boyfriend TWICE and our male has never once shown any aggression. You can just never tell. Iguanas are different from iguana to iguana.

You said your mom won't let you get a bigger iguana---think about that. Even if you get a tiny baby iglet, it will grow to be 6 feet long in a few years, so saying that your mom won't let you have a big one doesn't make any sense...unless you plan on getting rid of the new baby iguana as soon as it grows up, like many people do. Doesn't she (your mom) realize that it will be big in a few years anyway? It makes no sense to let you have a baby ig but not an adult.

My advice to you is to try and make Egor's cage more interesting. Invest the money you would have spent on a new ig and all the fixings to make his habitat more interesting. He won't be bored if you give him things like ropes and ladders to climb, a nice pillow to lay on, and lots of attention and interaction.

Please don't get a baby female for him. It's in your best interest and HIS not to.
