I understand your dilema, as i myself have an iguana i've only owned about 6 months and tries to bite me or whip it's tail. But, the recomendations people have made to me is just try talking to her, always approach slowly and try to be around the ig a lil more than usual. By being around the iguana (as in either sitting and watching or maybe doing something in that room) they start to not see you as a predator or invader, or at LEAST get a lil used to you. Good thing about my iguana is that it's cage is about 4 feet from where my iguana's cage is, and i'm on the computer for about 4 hours or so a day (give or take). I've also heard people say not to take them out of their environment while you try and hold them (after they get used to you a lil bit of course =P), so that way they get comfortable with you holding them around things they are used to. I've personally found with my BF's Iguana (a 3 and a half year old male) that the more time you spend just near them (like in the same room) the more they learn to trust you. Now i can go sit in Enzo's (the iguana's name) room and he'll run up and sit on my leg, waiting to be rubbed. Kinda makes you feel a lil special =)
Hope everything works out with Finesse!
