Iggy the iguana survives four chilly nights of freedom

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- A runaway iguana named Iggy was reunited with her owners Wednesday after four days lurching around Auburn, discovered lounging in a sunny patch on a road.
Howard Thomas, a textile engineering professor at Auburn University, said the nearly 3-foot-long Iggy escaped Thursday afternoon from the screen porch where she lives.
After four nights of cool temperatures, Thomas figured Iggy -- a cold-blooded reptile who lives with heating pads -- had succumbed to the elements. But instead, a motorist found a chilled Iggy Monday and called the Lee County Humane Society, where Thomas retrieved her.
Wednesday afternoon, Iggy was warming up in a bath and dining on collard greens. "They eat what we eat in the South," Thomas said.
