With any vegetables, cooking depletes the nutrients. Always better, in my book, to feed raw, well prepared (thinly sliced, grated, etc.) veggies. The same goes for the occassional fruit. As far as lettuce is concerned, the ONLY lettuce that would be at all appropriate for iguanas would be Romaine and even that I don't recommend at all. There are simply too many other vegetables with more nutritional value to bother with lettuce at all. In fact, the only reason we ever touch the stuff around here is if we get someone in that needs hydration but is not so severe that they need a trip to the vet for it. Other than that - it never even comes in the house.
