I've been in a few pet stores like that and what I do..........I write a note (unsigned) to the pet store telling them I was in and what I saw and some pointers in correcting it.

THEN, I also send a copy to the local humane society. I put that on the bottom of the letter so the pet shop KNOWS I'm sending a copy to the humane society.

I did that about a year ago. Some iggies in a shop had NO warming lights. I can still see the little thing (it was gray) sitting on a twig. Right NEXT to the cage were about 50 warming bulbs for sale. That pissed me off. Well, I wrote the letter and the next time I went in, they were using the warming bulb, the cage was cleaner and they had (a little) better conditions.

When I went into another one -- they had no lights either. I wrote another letter, but haven't been back to check.

Pet store owners do NOT want the humane society on their backs. Some of them might appreciate the advise and change things (the might not know any better) and the ones that don't and don't change things deserve a visit and citation from them.
