Cindy, three ideas... First, it may be a tooth, which they frequently lose when they bite, working it's way out. Second, a small pocket of infection that is encapsulated, and third, a keloid in the scar tissue. (Keloids are a form of very firm, raised scar tissue that frequently develop in a deep wound). My bite last Sept. had a couple, and they were raised bumps. They did recede, but are still there.
